Share the planning, as well as the doing
Turn an invisible household responsibility into an explicit agreement.

Name the whole responsibility
A task such as preparing for a school day may include noticing supplies are low, reading messages, making a decision and remembering the deadline. Discussing the whole sequence can make support more specific. Describe what needs to happen without turning the conversation into a scorecard.
Agree on ownership
Choose one responsibility that another adult can own from noticing through completion. Agree on what a good-enough result looks like and what information is needed. Ownership does not mean doing it without support, and circumstances may require changing the arrangement. Keep the discussion practical and respectful of everyone’s capacity.
Try it in a small way
- Pick one recurring responsibility that feels heavy.
- Write the steps that happen before the visible task.
- Agree who owns it and when help should be requested.
- Add a shared reminder in Family Planner and review the arrangement together.
