Time management
A gentle return to routines
Build flexible daily anchors around your baby's needs and your recovery.
2 minute read · A small idea to try
Choose anchors you can move
A routine can be a familiar action rather than a fixed time. Opening the curtains after a morning feed, checking tomorrow's appointment details or sharing a simple meal can give the day a little shape. Leave feeding and medical schedules to your care team's individual guidance.
Plan one anchor for you
Choose something that supports you: food within reach, a shower when another caregiver is available, or a message to a trusted person. Make the next step small enough for a tired day. If you miss it, restart when it becomes useful.
Use a short evening check
Ask what must happen tomorrow and what would help. Put one real appointment or task in Family Planner, assign practical help where agreed, and add supplies to a list. Avoid filling every open space; recovery and caring already use time.
Adjust instead of catching up
After a difficult night, move optional tasks and choose easier meals. If a routine repeatedly causes stress, shorten it or change when it happens. The aim is to reduce decisions, not create a record of missed goals. Today, choose one anchor you would like to try for a few days.
One thing to take with you
A useful routine bends with your family and can begin again at any time.
