Time management
Plan a week with breathing room
Separate fixed commitments from flexible hopes and leave space for life.
2 minute read · A small idea to try
Start with what is already fixed
Put appointments, school commitments and deadlines in one calendar. Include preparation or travel time where it changes the day. Then look at the space that remains before adding more. An apparently empty evening may already contain feeding, homework and recovery.
Choose what would help most
List the tasks that would make the week easier. Pick a few that fit your actual energy and support. Ask whether each can be shortened, moved or given to someone else. A task can matter without needing to happen today.
Protect one flexible block
Leave some time unassigned for delays, rest or a spontaneous family moment. If a plan slips, choose a new date deliberately rather than carrying it forward as an invisible failure. For recurring jobs, decide who owns the task and what done looks like.
Use a two-minute review
At a convenient point in the day, check the next commitment and choose one helpful action. For example, put the appointment details together or add missing groceries to a list. Open Family Planner and add one real dated commitment now; you can shape the rest later.
One thing to take with you
A plan should help you make choices, including choosing to leave something for later.
